Thoughts of Spring – Farmer’s Market Opening Dates

Westboro Farmer's Market - Summer 2012While Ottawa recovers from the 20 cm or so of snow that fell yesterday, today, the first day of spring, all I can think about is the day the Westboro farmer’s market opens for the season!  Only two months to go!

I scoured the websites of local markets and found the following opening dates:

Brewer Park Market  http://www.ottawafarmersmarket.ca/
Opens on Sundays, May 5 – November 17 from 8:00am-3:00pm.

Orléans Market at Centrum Plaza  http://www.ottawafarmersmarket.ca/
Opens Fridays, May 10 – October 11, 10:00am-3:00pm.  Between 240 Centrum Blvd. and St. Joseph’s Blvd.

Perth Farmer’s Market  http://www.perthfarmersmarket.ca/
Open Saturdays May 11 – October 12m, 8:00am – 1:00pm, Tay St, Perth
 
Westboro Farmers’ Market  http://www.ottawafarmersmarket.ca/
Opens Saturday, May 18, 9:30am-3:00pm. Saturdays, May 18 – October 26 in Byron Park in Westboro.

Ottawa Organic Farmer’s Market  http://www.oofmarket.ca/
Year round! Saturdays, 10:00am – 2:00pm, behind the Canadian Tire at Canada Care Medical Center (Bank and Heron)

  1. So excited for farmers market season! We live downtown so the Byward farmers market is the most convenient. It’s my favourite part about summers in downtown Ottawa! Just walking around, looking at the blooming flowers and bringing home fresh fruit. So excited!

    • Lucky! Access to year-round local produce would be fantastic. I love visiting new markets as well, it’s a great way to learn about a new region when traveling!
